Chihuahuan Desert Trans-Pecos

A region of diverse habitats and vegetation west of the Pecos River, varying from the desert valleys and plateaus to wooded mountain slopes. It is mountainous and arid with average rainfall less than 12 inches. Alkaline soils. Home of darkest skies, Big Bend National Park and The Gorge of the Rio Grande.
