Purple Milkweed Vine is found all through Central Texas usually in chalky soils. It grows in pastures, prairies up through OK and out to NM. It has 2 ft stems that come from a central root that hug the ground. Very easy to miss if your eyes are focused on the vistas instead of the ground under your feet. It has dark purple, star shaped, 5 petaled flowers that produce a very prickly typical looking milkweed pod. All parts of this milkweed vine are covered with hairs, stems and all.
