As the name suggests, Texas Tridens' native range is through central and south Texas, and into northern Mexico. It favors growing in the protection of shrubs and along rights of way in clay, sandy, and loam soils. The somewhat inconspicuous spikelets have a subtle beauty in their arrangement and can have purple accents.
