This grass is between 2-3 ft. in height and is named for its interesting terminal inflorescences, which have separate male and female flowers. Stigmas are purple; stamens are orange. Often found in the eastern portions of Texas and into Louisiana, in well drained gravely or sandy soil, this grass is pretty and interesting enough to be used as an ornamental accent.
