This warm-season, perennial bunch grass is incredibly drought tolerant with purple tinged seeds. Broad range over most of Texas (except Pineywoods) and populations in Oklahoma and New Mexico. Excellent germination and quick coverage. This early successional native has great value in soil stabilization and is considered an increaser on rangelands. Seed heads occur on 20 long, slender stems and offer a food source for birds and wildlife year-round when moisture is available. Great addition to wildflower meadows and other native plantings.
