Highly drought-tolerant native grass can grow on as little as 5 in. of rainfall a year. Found from central Texas to old and New Mexico and Arizona. Forms stolons and runners, an excellent short grass (4 to 10 inches) for dry soils that are difficult to vegetate. Grows best in full sun, and is a great source of forage for wildlife and livestock.
Curly Mesquite can be used in a combination with other short-growing native grasses such as Buffalograss and Blue Grama (see our Thunder Turf mix) for a fantastic low-maintenance turf grass in arid areas of the Southwestern U.S.
Available in our mixes and in DPAKs only.
