Seeds are important food source for dove, turkey, quail and other ground-feeding birds. Larval host plant for the Leafwing butterfly caterpillar. Eggs are laid singly under Woolly Croton gray-green fuzzy leaves. Adult butterflies are red and undersides of both wings closely mimic a dead leaf. Uses very little water. Can be poisonous to cattle.
