Central Great Plains
Rich mixture of medium height prairie grasses. Wildflowers occur among the grasses, but very few trees and shrubs. Heavily grazed and frequently disturbed by drought and fire. Home of American bison. Overcultivated during 1930’s Dust Bowl where barren topsoil was blown away.
